Eden Ganniclifft
ABOUT ME
Innovative Problem Solver
Always thinking of new ideas to make improvements to modern engineering systems. Eden has been praised on his ability to think outside the box and find ways for companies to increase productivity and revenue.
EXPERIENCE
Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab
Jun 2019 – Aug 2019 | Marketing Specialist, Education Mentor & Project
Represented the company at the world’s leading start-up event - SLUSH. Building company relations and a strong personal network of entrepreneurs with the aim to increase venture capital and customers.
Engineered and designed products to be used in countries of low economic growth. Achieving towards the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), leading to local villages having access to cleaner water and the technology to monitor and protect bees.
Organised and presented physical day workshops for business entrepreneurs and teachers to program and engineer products from the ground up. Teaching engineering principles and processes required to construct the creative designs.
Operated independently, designing and programming in Python an autonomous RC car to drive seamlessly around a painted track. Integrating a Raspberry Pi and camera to visualise the track ahead and alternate speed accordingly.
Adapted quickly to the new working environment in China, having had no prior experience in the country. Cultural etiquette and company rules were quickly learnt to ensure the building of strong relationships within the businesses.
Collaborated in a team of three to design and manufacture an electro-pneumatic gripper to transport delicate products prone to scratches.
University of Bristol
Sep 2018 – Jun 2021 | Aerospace Engineering MEng
Leading as the Project Supervisor for our aircraft system design project assessed by Airbus. Organising tasks and collaborating with 7 other team members through an online experience. Tasked with designing a fully operational aircraft with written feasibility studies and fuel efficiency inspired missions from the A320 NEO.
Researched and experimented a multifaceted topic on the nature of bees and ions, producing a 30-page report explaining findings. Branching into unfamiliar topics to strengthen skill sets in research and ignite the enjoyment of learning new information. Diving into the topics of biology, physics and engineering opened up the imagination for future engineering ideas and allows solving engineering problems with a unique multidisciplinary approach.
Designed, programmed and modelled a full-scale aircraft wing over the course of 6 months. Housing an adjustable flap with Bluetooth connectivity. Used an analytical approach with the wind tunnel data to improve aerodynamics and structural strength leading to one of the best wings of the groups.
Educated with 3 years of experience in C/C++ and MATLAB, coding calculations to evaluate bending moment matrices and residual stresses through aircraft structures. Analysing signals with Simulink and improving system stability through data interpolation and control.
EDUCATION
University of Bristol
2017 - 2021 | Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering
National Extension College (NEC)
2015 - 2016 | A-Level in Mathematics
Bridgewater and Taunton College
2015 - 2017 | Extended National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering
Writings
The Accuracy of the Programmable Ion Mobility Spectrometer
Since Oct 2019 | COMSOL Research
An investigation into the accuracy of a PIMS and how ion measurements can determine the level of environmental impacts the world is facing today.
Projects
Online Portfolio
Since Feb 2019 | HTML CSS JavaScript
Building an online portfolio having had no prior skills in HTML or CSS has grown a huge skill set which has been very rewarding. This has also helped in current studies and given access to other opportunities which weren't open to me before.
SKILLS
MATLAB
Intermediate Level
MATLAB use is frequent throughout my study at university. Some recent uses are:
Computing shear centres, sectional stresses & strains and torsional stiffness of aircraft sections, modelling frequency response functions (FRFs) and calculating damped natural frequencies & steady state responses of systems, and extracting and analysing data from flight simulators.
COMSOL
Intermediate Level
Electromagnetic and fluid flow modelling was the basis for my project. I produce real-time simulations to aid my research and help interpret difficult systems. The skills gained from this have been very valuable and progressed myself to further physics modelling in other courses.
